A wire wheel is an abrasive tool made of steel wire or stainless-steel wire, commonly mounted on angle grinders, bench grinders, drills, or polishing machines. It is mainly used for deburring, rust removal, weld cleaning, descaling, and surface preparation. Compared to flap wheels or abrasive belts, wire wheels provide a softer grinding action, making them ideal for cleaning and surface conditioning.

Wire wheels can be applied to carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, cast iron, and stone, especially in weld finishing, metal surface cleaning, and pre-coating treatment.

Types of Wire Wheels

1. By Material

   • Carbon Steel Wire Wheel: General-purpose for common metals.

   • Stainless Steel Wire Wheel: Corrosion-resistant, ideal for stainless steel and aluminum.

   • Brass Wire Wheel: Softer, protects non-ferrous metals from scratches.

   • Cup Wire Wheel: For flat surfaces and wide areas.

   • Bowl Wire Wheel: For edges, corners, and curved surfaces.

   • Radial Wire Wheel: General-purpose surface cleaning.

   • Crimped Wire Wheel: Softer brushing action for light-duty rust removal.

   • Twist Knot Wire Wheel: Aggressive, suitable for heavy rust, scale, and weld cleaning.
